Beyond Traditional Therapy: Discover Rapid, Deep, and Transformative Methods

Traditional psychology has always been a great tool in my life. However, I often felt it takes too long. The results aren’t really visible, and it’s mostly about talking. Just when it gets deep, the session ends, leaving the real work for “next time.”

I first heard of RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapy) when a friend asked if someone she knew could practise RTT with me. She was finishing her studies in London at the time. After the session, she became my friend too. RTT is a hybrid therapy that combines hypnosis, NLP, CBT, and psychotherapy. Its goal is to reprogram the subconscious mind for rapid results.

Because I love experimenting with new methods, I said yes immediately. I felt excited. During the RTT session, I noticed it was very deep and truly transformative – unlike any traditional therapy session I had before. It touched the root causes in my subconscious and changed how I saw myself in just one session.

LLater, when I moved back to Hungary for a while, I heard about Ultra-Brief Therapy.
This solution-focused method aims to achieve breakthroughs in one or very few sessions. I studied it for a year and became a certified consultant. It also focuses on what really matters in the here and now, without getting lost in endless analysis.

Overall, these experiences changed how I approach coaching and therapy. I believe everyone deserves to know there are modern therapy methods that can create deep, fast, and lasting transformation.

💡 What Are Modern Therapy Methods?

Modern therapy methods are approaches that combine psychology, neuroscience, hypnosis, and solution-focused techniques to create rapid changes in mindset, beliefs, and emotional patterns. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which often takes years to unpack issues, these methods aim for:

✅ Faster breakthroughs
✅ Direct access to subconscious beliefs
✅ Resolving root causes instead of symptoms
✅ Empowering you to take back control over your life

To give you a clearer picture, here are some of the most widely used modern therapy methods and how each works:

💡 RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapy)

Firstly, RTT is a hybrid therapy developed by Marisa Peer. It combines hypnosis, NLP, CBT, and psychotherapy techniques to achieve fast and lasting transformation. In RTT sessions, the therapist guides you into a relaxed state to access your subconscious mind. There, you identify the root cause of an issue and reprogram limiting beliefs into empowering ones.

🌈 EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

Originally developed for PTSD, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sounds) while recalling distressing memories. This process helps reprocess traumatic experiences so they no longer trigger intense emotional responses. EMDR is now widely used for anxiety, phobias, and limiting beliefs.

✨ Ultra-Brief Therapy

Known in Hungary and Canada, Ultra-Brief Therapy focuses on achieving maximum results within a single or very few sessions. It is solution-focused and goal-oriented, helping clients clarify their issues and desired outcomes rapidly, with techniques that often integrate systemic approaches and powerful reframing.

🧠 Havening Techniques

Havening is a psychosensory therapy using touch (usually on the arms or face) combined with visualisation and distraction to de-link emotional distress from memories. It is highly effective for trauma, anxiety, and fear responses, creating calmness quickly.

🔮 Single Session Therapy (SST)

Developed by Moshe Talmon, SST is based on the principle that every session can be a complete, standalone intervention. It empowers clients to create immediate change and clarity without committing to long-term therapy unless needed.

📚 Here are five best-selling books on modern therapy methods and deep transformation:

  1. Tell Yourself a Better Lie: Use the power of Rapid Transformational Therapy to edit your story and rewrite your life by Marisa Peer: The book explains how subconscious beliefs formed in childhood influence current behaviours and emotional states, and how RTT can ‘edit’ or reframe these beliefs to create rapid, lasting change.
  2. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk: Explores how trauma is stored in the body and mind, supporting the idea that methods like EMDR, Havening, and RTT work by accessing deeper levels than talk therapy alone.
  3. The Gift of Therapy by Irvin D. Yalom: Offers practical insights from a master therapist about creating meaningful change, relevant for understanding the evolution from traditional to more integrative, modern methods.
  4. The Work: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life by Byron Katie: Introduces a transformative self-inquiry method that can lead to rapid shifts in limiting beliefs, similar to the other deep and fast approaches described.
  5. EMDR: The Breakthrough Therapy for Overcoming Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma by Francine Shapiro: Provides a thorough explanation of EMDR, one of the most respected modern therapy methods for achieving quick and lasting relief from trauma and anxiety.

I’ve never ventured beyond traditional therapy, but I’ve been intrigued by breathwork and somatic approaches. I do believe transformation can happen in a single session—if the conditions are right and you’re truly ready. That said, lasting change usually needs integration afterward. I’m most drawn to psychedelic-assisted therapy, though I admit it feels a bit intimidating. This post helped remove some of that stigma. 🙏
    Big hugs from Sweden!

Traditional therapy gave me a strong foundation, but I often left sessions feeling like I was carrying more weight than when I walked in. We’d tiptoe around the real pain, and just as we were about to touch something meaningful—time was up. “Next week” always felt too far away.

RTT was a turning point for me too. I tried it after years of talk therapy left me intellectually understanding my patterns, but still stuck emotionally. My session cracked something wide open. I was guided back to scenes from childhood I didn’t even realize were shaping my present. And somehow, in just one session, I walked away not just understanding—but feeling differently. Like the belief that “I’m not enough” wasn’t just talked about, but rewritten inside me.

Later, I discovered Ultra-Brief Therapy as well—drawn by the same desire you mention: to go straight to the root, without getting lost in overanalysis. What I love about these methods is that they trust your mind to change, quickly and powerfully, when given the right tools.

Thank you for writing this. Posts like yours remind people—especially those who feel stuck or hopeless—that healing doesn’t always have to take years. Sometimes, the right method at the right moment can change everything.

    Hi Timi,
Thank you for this powerful post—reading it really resonated. I’ve often felt the same about traditional therapy: insightful, but slow, and sometimes frustratingly incomplete. Your experience with RTT and Ultra-Brief Therapy sounds incredibly liberating.

I actually sent you a message recently about booking a coaching session—would love to talk more, especially about Ultra-Brief Therapy. I’m really curious to learn how it works in practice and whether it might be the right fit for me at this stage.

Looking forward to connecting 🤗 Mari from Spain
